Coach’s Bio Girls Tennis

Coach Michaela Hicks is a teacher at South Paulding High School. Academically, she has earned a bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University and has both her master’s and specialist degrees from Piedmont College. She has led the Varsity Girls’ Tennis program at South Paulding High School since 2014. Coach Hicks and her team have won two region championships, had two runner-up finishes, and have competed at the state level for the past five years. Coach Hicks maintains a tradition and expectation of excellence, which is on-pace to continue in the 2019-2020 school year.

Personally, Coach Hicks has played competitive tennis from an early age and continues to play at the tournament level. She holds a 4.5 USTA NTRP record and an AA3 ALTA record. She, along with her team, are Atlanta City champions (2018, 2019, 2020), ALTA A2 City Finalists (2019), Alabama state champions (2019); Coach Hicks has played at sectionals, representing the state of Georgia, and closes the 2019 season 16-1 in regular play.

When she is not on the tennis court or in her classroom, Coach Hicks enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, running, obsessing over her dog, Molly, and watching re-runs of Serena Williams’s matches.
